Nestled in Lies

Nestled in lies

Do Nestle even have a business manager at the lowest level? An acredited Public relations or marketing employee? It’s a question I thoroughly enjoy asking myself upon hearing every new unethical practice that unfolds from their corporation. Because when I have a 20 month old baby sister and 3 month old baby brother I really enjoy hearing about Nestlé’s promotion of baby formula as 'identical to breast milk' when it isn’t. Hearing about the world’s largest baby milk powder suppler contributing to malnourished babies everywhere makes my day!

Child labour in Ghana, palm oil exploitation, assassination of unhappy union members, demanding millions from Ethiopians whilst they were in the worst drought and 11 million people faced starvation, Illegal mineral water exploitation from conserved resources, illegal 'redating' of out of date powdered milk, water and pumpkin pollution(be it a ludicrous thought, it’s also extremely dangerous in large quantities. Who knew! oh yeah.. Nestle did.). Can there BE a more ethically defunct multi-national corporation? Could there BE an organisation that holds a higher record for the number of times 'exploitation' was used in a headline about them?

If we're going to question such an honest, credible organisation on ethics from our PR point of view, the labelling of Baby Milk being identical to breast milk whilst having absolutely no scientific backing is one of the worst and most harmful attacks on children’s welfare to a mass consumer audience that professionals from our industry could ever disseminate.
